Confidentiality is ensured unless the client threatens their safety or others or engages in actions that violate the law.

What issues can be brought to counselling sessions?

Any issues that may affect effectiveness and efficiency in life.

Who can access the University Counselling Center services?

Services at the University Counselling Center are open to students, staff, and the general public.

Are clients attending counselling sessions at the University Counseling Center composed of referred officers and staff directed by the Department Head?

No. The University Counselling Center also accepts clients who attend voluntarily and are referred.

Are clients given the opportunity to choose a Psychologist?

Yes. Every client has the right to choose a Psychologist.

Will my personal records be affected when meeting with a Psychologist?

Your personal records will not be affected when you meet with a Psychologist.

How can I get counselling services from the University Counseling Center?

Services provided by Psychologists can be done in three ways:

  1. In-person (walk-in)
  2. Making appointments using the Counselling Management System (CMS) at the link cms.uthm.edu.my
  3. Email
  4. Phone call or WhatsApp
Will my secrets be made public when I express my problems to a Psychologist?

No. Psychologists practice confidentiality ethics. Psychologists cannot share issues or disclose or share client problems with others without the client's consent.

Where is the University Counselling Center located?

The University Counselling Centre is located in Building D15, Jalan Persiaran Tun Dr Awang Hassan, adjacent to the University Health Center Building.
